Through the Obama administration we have see an increase in the production of domestic fuel. President Obama new gas mileage standards will average some 35 miles per gallon by 2016 saving consumers in they neighborhood of $3,000 annually and saving some 1.5 billion barrels of Oil.
Improvements in the public transportation segment will include some 1,300 new para transit buses or vans using clean energy technology, purchased through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The Administration also seeks to further reduce the barriers to making ethanol blended fuels more readily available by adding 5,000 more pumps nationwide. Most excitingly the President has set a goal of having more than 1,000,000 cars with advanced technologies such as EV's and Fuel Cell cars by 2015.
The administration as proposes to eliminate nearly $4 billion dollars annual from the oil and gas industry to further reduce or dependance on foreign oil by funding clean energy technologies. As of right now the Administration boasts that 40% of all energy production in the US to date is provided by clean energy. Come 2035 the goal would be to have 80% of of energy production come in the form of Clean Energy.
