I have to say after reading this article and watching the video I have to tip my hat to this team.  However in an economy where budgets are tight and people are struggling just to keep their mortgage.  How is anyone expected to build a house that creates 3x's the power it consumes.  Other houses lost points for the not net metering greater that the amount the house uses. 

Competitions are wonderful however lets make this competition for the everyone by changing the rules to reflect a home given a specific plot and net metering rules regulations and give them points on cost of infrastructure as well as just how much the house makes in electricity.
